Sarah Hinson's Bio

Sarah Hinson was born August of 1983 in Prescott, Arizona.

She began dancing at the age of 3 and playing the piano at

the age of 7.  Between 13 and 18, Sarah participated and was awarded scholarships in various music competitions for Piano and Viola.  She also was a member of a pre-professional dance company, whom she toured and competed with.  Her desire to learn and improve with the arts was insatiable, and this passion fueled many projects as the years unfolded.

Sarah moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 2003 to attend the University of New Mexico.  It was here that Sarah found Flamenco dancing and dedicated herself to becoming a Professional Flamenco Dancer in "Yjastros," a touring company under the direction of Joaquin Encinias.  She rehearsed daily with the company, traveled to many places to perform, all the while continuing her studies at the University.  She focused her studies on Music Composition, Modern Dance, Flamenco Dance, Spanish, and Philosophy classes.  She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 2007.

Returning to Prescott, AZ in 2008, Sarah dedicated her newfound skills to teaching and performing in her hometown community.  You could find her teaching dance and piano at multiple studios throughout the area, performing anywhere from local coffee shops to large performance halls.  It was during this time she fell in love with teaching.

Sarah Hinson Piano Studio was created in 2010, and Sarah dedicated herself to full-time piano instruction.  The studio began with a humble 8 students per week but quickly grew to 45 weekly with potentials on a waiting list!  She was honored to receive such a welcoming into the profession.

Sarah hosted two piano recitals per year, one of which was a "costume recital" that allowed students to get a little goofy in the rather serious world of classical piano.  She led many students to compete and place in state and county-wide competitions and did her best to support each student in their endeavors and interests.

Sarah Hinson Piano Studio took an interesting turn in 2020, all lessons were instantly online.   As it is said "necessity is the mother of invention," therefore Sarah learned how to make online piano lessons engaging, fun, and beneficial.  She is grateful for these new skills, as she now teaches students across the United States and abroad!
